- UCB doctrine: 'You earn the game by establishing base reality first.'
- Typically built via Yes, And, characters, relationship, activity, emotional tone, in the first 20-30 seconds of a scene.
- Base reality need not be literally realistic; 'the base reality of this scene is two wizards arguing about HR compliance' is valid once established.
