Pairs (Playback)
A Playback short form for ambivalence — two actors each embody a contrasting feeling the teller is holding, playing them side by side without resolving.
Known for
- Used when the teller reports mixed feelings ('excited but terrified,' 'relieved but guilty').
- Two actors stand side by side; each takes one feeling. They play simultaneously with repeated phrases or movements — no dialogue between them.
- The form explicitly refuses to resolve the tension. Honoring both sides is the point.
