Alphabet Game
Pre-1970s
Also known as A-Z Scene, ABC Scene, 90 Second Alphabet
A scene of 26 lines where each successive line begins with the next letter of the alphabet; after Z comes A. Players who stall or use the wrong letter are replaced.
Known for
- Starting letter is an audience suggestion; can begin anywhere in the alphabet.
- Replacement player assumes the outgoing player's character — scene continuity must hold.
- Letters Q, X, Z handled by using proper names ('Quentin, why are you here?').
- Teaches the principle of Chivalry — accept elimination rather than sabotage the scene.
