Tableau (Playback)
A Playback short form of frozen moments — the ensemble sculpts one or more still images that capture a pivotal moment in the teller's story.
Known for
- No dialogue; bodies and spatial composition do the work.
- Often used to honor a moment the teller described as 'burned in' — a death, a reunion, a reveal.
- Distinct from but related to Boal's Image Theatre; Playback uses tableau as a single beat within a larger form, not as the whole form.
