Also known as Image Tag, Boal Image Game
Two players form a frozen image together; one steps out and a new player enters with a fresh pose, completing a new image, repeating so the picture continually reinvents itself.
Known for
- A core Image Theatre exercise from Augusto Boal, built on still pictures rather than dialogue.
- Played in silence and at speed, before thought, so bodies sculpt meaning instead of words.
- Frozen images can be 'dynamised', brought to life with movement and sound, to open dialogue about a theme.
- Used to explore attitudes, relationships, and oppression with groups of any experience level, including non-actors.
