An offer that assigns a trait, backstory, or behavior to another performer — a gift the partner accepts and plays as truth.
Known for
- Example: 'Joanne has a wooden leg' endows Joanne with a physical trait the Joanne-actor must now play.
- Distinct from pimping: endowment grants interpretive flexibility; pimping demands a specific on-the-spot action.
- Modern consent-minded teaching warns against endowments targeting identity (race, gender, disability) or performers' real-world traits they haven't opted into.
